Life began in August 2012
I have always been into climbing things, jumping over things, going fast etc...
I remember it all starting when I was 7 years old. I was at a family gathering and there was a massive pole where my male cousins were climbing. I didn't care that only boys were climbing this massive pole- I had to get to the top. I want to find photos from this because I remember my mom telling me recently she was thinking, "why the hell, how the hell did my daughter climb up that faster than the boys?"
Moving on, it didn't help that I was put into diving...yes, learning to do flips off of diving boards from 1m to 4m high... I love jumping into bodies of water. I think I was about 11 years old here....THEN, it went even further when I started competing in English riding. My grandma owned race horses, so she pushed me to get into it... it lead to a more competitive world of faster horses with higher walls to jump. At the age of 14 years old I was competing in Hunter Jumper.
This all being said, I have always loved being in a "guys sport". Something faster paced, more extreme, less annoying sensitive girls(Horseback riding was THE worst. Catty & snobby ) about it. Competitive box lacrosse... I think I got into this because my friend and I wanted to be the only girls in the league. Luckily, there were no rules about girls being in the league. Finally, after a few years the guys hit puberty and were huge. Although we loved playing in an aggressive sport with (hot) guys - they were just getting way too big. Fully matured 6'2" 200lb guys coming to check 5'3" girls 125lb girls.
I needed something I could work on, a club of some sort, an exciting club though.... One day I figured, why not try skydiving? It'll be fun. I ended up doing this first tandem jump with three friends last May 2012, in Vegas at Sin City Skydive. Oh my God... THE BEST time I have ever had. It didn't hurt that my tandem instructor was SO handsome. He said something to me that made me realize, I need to be a skydiver... "I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't safe". From that moment on, I decided to go back home and get my solo license. I thought maybe I'd just be doing a few jumps here and there, but as many others have realized that is not how skydiving works....
I'm still a newbie in the sport (50 some jumps,3 hours tunnel & one hot air balloon jump). I only recently packed and jumped my own parachute...PHEW. Guess what? The parachute opened! I have absolutely fallen in love with this sport, the people, the community, and the wind tunnel. I'm willing to spend all of my spare $ on this sport. I can't imagine living life and NOT jumping. I am in love with skydiving.
I will post to my blog photos from the dropzones I visit, jumps etc...
-STAY TUNED-
